This is my favourite found photograph (so far)! I love everything about it. The glum child, the crying child, the wandering attention of the dogs, the straight faces of the elderly couple, the gnarled fingers of the old lady, the fantastic beard of the old man (and his hat), the three beautiful young women (sisters?), the semi-smiles of the two young women at the back and their obvious affection for each other and their (grand?) parents, the clothing... Even the untidy background is wonderful!

I have no idea where, why or of whom this photo was taken, but it bore a date (1909). I found it amongst my mother's scraps and originally thought that it was of relatives, but no, nothing to do with us.
